Process
Your group has been hired by the United Nations to create a museum of the contributions of Ancient civilizations to modern life.
You will choose a group (no more than five) and an ancient civilization to study (Egypt, China, Meso America, Greece, Rome, or India). Use this worksheet to get started.
Your group's job is to thoroughly research the civilization and determine the most important ways this civilization has influenced or contributed to our modern world. Use the Research planning template to divide up the research process among the group members.
Each group member will then be in charge of researching two characteristics of your civilization and answering the questions on one of the research templates . You may wish to create your own questions that dig deeper into the culture than the questions on the template. You will research books and internet articles with the guiding question "How did this civilization affected our world today?" Use the list of wesites below as well as any books, videos, and articles you find.

Creating your Exhibit
Once all group members have finished their research your group must compile the research to complete the project task. Your task will be to describe a day in the life of an ordinary citizen of an ancient civilization. Your group should include what he would encounter as he goes about his day; i.e. diet, clothing, job, discussing contemporary events, family life, religion and any other important areas you may want to add.
You may distribute the work of creating your displays based on different subcategories of objects or by themes. Decide together as a team the activities of the day that the man/woman/family will experience. Organize the day in some order that will maximize the impact: simple to complex? Geographically? By size or age? Begin with a surprising one and intersperse other special activities throughout?
Your final task is to guide your visitors through your exhibit by creating an informative flyer that gives detailed information on artifacts and items that made your civilization unique. Your flyer should have a well thought out design and include pictures.
